Getting a part time job is easier than a full time job now. The company does not have to give you health benefits so if you have benefits from another source then everything is fine.

A successful way to find a part time job is to start in your neighborhood with local shops, restaurants, cafes etc. You might run into people you know, but if this is not a problem, go for it. The proprietors of the stores probably already know you and that is generally to your advantage. Recently chain stores have instituted a centralized number for hiring, but if personnel are needed you will end up in the neighbourhood anyway for the interview.

Age as a factor is a wash. Some stores or companies will prefer younger workers and others older workers. Reliability is owned by older workers without question, but some companies think older workers will want more money which is not necessarily the case. If at a later date you want more hours, once you are working in the company you will have the edge in moving into that position.

Local newspapers are other sources of part time jobs, though they might not be as local and the quality is far below the choice you can make by walking into the store yourself. Online and major newspapers have advertisements for part time workers, but getting a part time job this way entails traveling to the interview and to work if you are fortunate enough to obtain the position. This is a more impersonal way of getting a part time job and will not be as successful as the walk-in to the local business.

Working part time is often a good way to get back in to employment if you have been out of work for some time. Many mothers may want to get back to work after having time off to bring up children and part time work is best suited to fit around their lives.

There are several Job Boards and Job Sites that specialise in part time employment which can all be found on the internet. There are opportunities to upload your CV stating a requirement for part time work only.

A friend can sometimes recommend an opening that he or she knows about where they work. A good word by them could be your ticket to getting a part time job. Do not count out networking which is often a good way of finding employment.
